This session offers insights into transitioning from clinician or educator to researcher, with practical strategies for developing SoTL projects, research collaborations, and early publications.
Drawing on three decades of experience, Professor Sandra Carr from the University of Western Australia will help participants identify practical pathways for clinicians and educators to develop a research identity, build a scholarship focus, and begin publishing in health professions education.
ABOUT OUR PRESENTER:
Professor Sandra Carr is Head of Health Professions Education at the University of Western Australia and leads the Health Humanities Research Network. She is an internationally recognised leader in health professions education, known for driving innovation in curriculum design and advancing evidence-informed approaches to preparing the future health workforce.
With a clinical background in nursing and midwifery, her research spans student selection, learner motivation, clinical education, assessment, curriculum design, and program evaluation, with a growing focus on the role of the health humanities in shaping reflective, person-centred practice.
Sandra has demonstrated sustained leadership in medical and health professions education, including leading curriculum development in medicine at UWA for 15 years and advancing faculty development in clinical education. She has also led the development and growth of postgraduate Health Professions Education programs, building a global community of educators.
