The Senior Manager Education Design & Development plays a key role within this project, working closely with the Associate Dean Innovation, driving high quality content and digital education design and development, and providing strategic advice in fostering innovation and enhancing staff and student experience. The role has end to end responsibility for managing the creation, sourcing, design and development of content and collateral for educational resources for the Medicine Program Redesign project. ACADEMIC GUIDANCE LEAD - ROCKHAMPTON - THE UNIVERSITY OF QUEENSLAND (UQ) Based at our Rockhampton Regional Clinical Unit In 2023 the UQ Medical School established eight geographically based Learning Communities and three are within the Rural Clinical School. The Learning Communities will bring together students, academics, clinical teachers and professional staff to provide an academic home where students learn from each other and are supported to thrive as they develop as a medical professional across the MD program. The Academic Guidance Lead plays a crucial role in supporting students throughout their Doctor of Medicine program. The University of Queensland's Regional Training Hubs (RTH), funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health through the Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training Program, aim to cultivate a new generation of rural and regional doctors by supporting medical students and prevocational doctors interested in these areas. Located in Central Queensland, Wide Bay, and Southern Queensland, these hubs are part of the Darling Downs – South West Medical Pathway (DDSW MP), a collaborative initiative with the University of Southern Queensland, Darling Downs Health, and the South West Hospital and Health Service. The Head of the RTH SQ position provides academic leadership within this pathway, focusing on improving the transition from medical school to internship, enhancing recruitment and retention, and fostering an inclusive and supportive environment to ensure that medical students and junior doctors thrive in regional settings. As a Lecturer, you will work with the Professor of Medical Education to ensure the medical curriculum and assessment of the Joint Medical Program (JMP) are contemporary and clearly visible to our students. You will also be involved in the introduction of the Curriculum Mapping tool (Sofia) across the five years of the Program. Additionally, you will be responsible for the academic component of clinical placements across the footprint of the JMP. This position will be based within the School of Medicine and Public Health, located at the John Hunter Hospital. There will be strong links with academic educators and clinical colleagues at other JMP teaching campuses including the Callaghan campus, the Central Coast Clinical School, the University of Newcastle Department of Rural Health and the University of New England. In addition to honing practical teaching and simulation skills at both an undergraduate and postgraduate level, registrars will have the option to explore simulation-based research, curriculum design, and interdisciplinary training methods that promote collaboration between health professionals. The centre's technologies enable realistic scenarios that help develop critical decision-making skills, improve communication in crisis situations, and reinforce both clinical knowledge and patient safety standards.
