Congratulations to Jason D'Silva on his ANZAHPE Associate Fellowship

29 Sep 2026 8:23 AM | Kendall Marriott (Administrator)

Congratulations to Jason D'Silva on his Associate Fellowship with ANZAHPE.

Jason is a medical doctor and educator based in Perth, Western Australia. He is a co-founder of First Principles of Medicine (1PM), a medical education platform that aims to make complex medical concepts easier to understand for medical students. Through 1PM, he is involved in teaching, developing educational resources and mentoring students. He is also an adjunct lecturer at The University of Western Australia and is completing a Master of Health Professions Education. Jason has been involved with ANZAHPE since 2024, presenting at the annual conference each year on topics including the use of Anki in medical education, teaching by doctors-in-training, and combining doctors-in-training and consultant teaching to improve intern-readiness.

Jason’s main scholarly interests are near-peer teaching, learner-centred education and finding practical ways to make medical education more effective and engaging. His work with 1PM has given him the opportunity to explore how students and junior doctors can learn from and teach one another, while also developing their own skills as educators. He applied for Associate Fellowship to continue developing his interest in health professions education and to become more involved with the ANZAHPE community. He has particularly enjoyed meeting and learning from other educators through the annual conferences and looks forward to continuing these connections, sharing ideas and contributing to future ANZAHPE conferences.
