Congratulations to Ness Vaughan on their Associate Fellowship with ANZAHPE!

Dr Ness Vaughan (they/them) is a Senior Lecturer with the UWA Medical School, whose work focuses on health equity, diversity and inclusion, and socially accountable medical education. As a neurodivergent, trans non-binary person, Ness’ lived experience informs their approach to educational innovation and organisational change, amplifying the voices of people with marginalised and often intersecting identities who experience increased barriers to safe, inclusive healthcare and education. Ness is co-chair of the UWA LGBTIQA+ Advisory Group, the UWA representative for Higher Education Australia Pride Practitioners WA, a board member of Pride WA, and an active living-experience advocate.

I’ve always had an interest in how we can best support our students become the health professionals their community needs. Through the Associate Fellowship program, I’m excited to work with our ANZAHPE colleagues and community members to create opportunities to co-produce new curriculum, improve student selection, and support safer education and healthcare spaces.
